Unique Ways to Celebrate Mom

Mother’s Day is on May 12th this year, and believe it or not… that is just around the corner! Mother’s Day tends to be a day that families go out to brunch or dinner and we thought it would be fun to share some of the unconventional ways that our team member celebrate Mother’s Day! Be sure you read through the list below and if you find your family doing something a little different that the usual, let us know so we can add it to our list of things to try!

  1. Create a Memory Scrapbook: Gather old photos, ticket stubs, notes, and mementos and complie them into a scapbook or memory box. It’s a heartfelt way to reminisce about special moments and create something tangible to cherish!

  2. Plan a Surprise Adventure: Take your mom on a surpsie adventce to a place she’s always wanted to visit or to somewhere unexpected like a nearby town, a hidden gem restaurant, or a scenic spot for a picnic.

  3. Host a Mother’s Day Brunch Picnic: Instead of going to a croweded restaurant, organize a brunch picnic in a beautiful outdoor location. Pack a basket with delicious homemade treats, a cozy blanket, and enjoy a leisurely meal surrounded by nature.

  4. DIY Spa Day: Transform your home into a relaxing spa retreat for your mom. Set up a DIY spa station with homemade face masks, essential oils for massages, soothing music, and scented candles for ambiance.

  5. Family Talent Show: Host a family talent show where everyone gets to showcase their talents, whether it’s signing, dancing, comedy skits, or magic tricks. It’s a fun way to bond and create lasting memories together.

  6. Volunteer Together: Spend the day volunteering for a cause that’s important to your mom. Whether it’s helping out a local shelter, participating in a beach cleanup, or assisting at a community garden, giving back can be a meaningful way to celebrate.

  7. Cooking or Art Class: Sign up for a cooking or art class together where you can learn something new while bonding over a shared experence. It’s a fun way to spend quality time together and create something beautiful or delicious.

  9. Take a Historic Street Car Ride: Take a trip to Minnesota Streetcar Museum (2330 W 42nd Street, Minneapolis, MN) from 12:30-8:30pm and enjoy a historic ride on a old Minnesota Streetcar. Moms get to ride for free!

  10. Ride on a Riverboat: Grab the family and head over to Taylors Falls Boats (220 South Street, Taylors Falls) for a 80-minute riverboat cruise which includes a narrated scenic tour through The Dalles of the St. Crouix, a mimosa, and a carnation for all the Mothers on board!
