Dear Minneapolis, Fridley, Columbia Heights and all other residents affected by yesterday’s tornadoes:
We are deeply moved by the losses of our friends and community members due to the storms that happened yesterday. Our home was on the edge of the storm and were hit by a flash flood and hail, but thankfully, no further damage occurred.
We want to notify you that the following schools are closed on Monday, May 23 due to the tornado that hit the Twin Cities area on Sunday: Lucy Laney, Cityview Community, Nellie Stone Johnson, Hmong International Academy, Northstar, Plymouth Youth Center and Urban League Elementary.
If your family needs shelter assistance, please go to Henry High School, North High School or Folwell Elementary School for shelter, food and water.
Urban Homeworks is dedicated to community development and dignified housing. They are accepting donations for the affected families as well as volunteers, who can check in at 1823 Emerson Ave N (Cross Connections building) all day.
