Hardwood floors are great: they’re stately, beautiful and often vintage. The only problem is, they can start to squeak if they’ve been around for a while. I’ve heard that you can relieve that problem by simply sprinkling some baby powder onto the squeaky area and sweeping it into the cracks. Then, wipe the floor. The powder between the boards will act as a lubricant and stop those annoying noises.
Now admittedly, I haven’t tried this one yet. Although… yeah. Hang on a second. I have hardwood floors that squeak. I’m going to go try it.
Ok – I’m back. I’m not sure why I have baby powder lying around, but I do. I haven’t used it in a long time (if ever), so it sort of exploded when I first opened it. I suggest opening the powder over the place where you actually want it to go. I swept it into the cracks and tried to remove the excess. I’d also suggest locking your dogs up in another room as they may try to run in and lick up the powder. Despite all this, I have to say it’s actually working! The squeak is far less pronounced. Whether you’re buying or selling, this is a pretty good tip. Until next time!
