NEWSFLASH!! Winter WILL end eventually!!! We know it’s hard to believe, but winter won’t last forever! Although waiting for it to pass by sitting next to your window may sound appealing, here are a few ideas we came up with that will help pass the time! Hope you enjoy!

Your family checklist for March:

Refresh Your Bookshelf

We hear that March is reading month, which is kind of like holding an eating month or a breathing month. But, to keep in the spirit, we thought we’d bring you a few book recommendations for families anyway:

Take the First (or Only!) Step in Spring Cleaning

It’s that time of year again. When the warm weather hits, you get inspired to usher in the fresh air and do a deep down cleaning. Take the first step soon – get rid of clutter that you don’t need.

Prepare for March Madness

Is your household totally charged up for NCAA tournament madness? Even if your own family is not into college basketball, there is no doubt someone in your circle of family and friends has devoted the last half of March to following the bracket. Make sure you don’t get blindsided by questions about whether a TV will be available when planning a kids’ party or dinner gathering by glancing at the March Madness schedule first.

Learn about St. Patrick’s Day History

Don’t just wear green this year! This day is a great opportunity to share stories at the dinner table about the history of St. Patrick’s Day  – like the first St. Patrick’s Day parade (which wasn’t in Ireland), the Great Potato Famine which brought close to a million Irish to the U.S., and how Chicago turns their river green to celebrate.

Get a Jump-start on the Easter Basket

With the apparent transition from Easter egg hunts to Easter candy hunts, your kids will get ample opportunities to indulge. Why not move away from the candy-filled Easter basket this year?

One Thing Not to Do in March:

Don’t buy bunnies as a surprise for your kids on Easter. We hear it’s a bad idea.
